There’s plenty to do here in Cayman this upcoming long weekend and we’ve delved deeply into our unparalleled research information – aka Facebook – for some ideas of how to celebrate.
First off, Bona Fide is back at the Silver Palms Lounge at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman on Saturday, 18 May, from 8.30 to 11.30pm.
“Expect a true taste of the Caribbean with roots reggae, sweet soca and captivating calypso followed by Motown, disco and pop for your dancing pleasure,” says the blurb.
“Their music will ensure that your vacation is memorable, exhilarating and ultimately paradisiacal.” Cor lumme, an no messin’.
Anyway it’s free, but dinner reservations are recommended so you can, y’know. Eat food.
Inevitably there’s stuff to do on Sunday too. So how about an epic day aboard the Sundancer from 2pm in the company of Billy Courduroy and Rachel Sehl? It goes from the yacht club at 2pm and tickets are $25. You could even win a trip to Las Vegas for two people, which we’re betting is gonna be popular. Contact 949 8423 for more on this one. It’s billed as ‘The Hangover Edition’ which sort of implies that you don’t have to stay in on the Friday to prepare for it.
In a land of endless sun, the concept of seasons is somewhat moot, we offer. Nonetheless, according to Partyrockers Entertainment, Sunday, 19 May marks the start of summer. Any excuse to party, innit? Anyroad, the doors of Elements open at one minute past midnight on Monday morning (that’s just after Sunday night, if we remember correctly.)
Students with college ID and ladies get in free til 1am otherwise it’s $5 women or $15 VIP and $10 for the lads who have to pay $20 VIP for some reason. We’re not sure why – maybe they take up more space or something.
Anyway, music comes from DJ Von HD, DJ Lin and a special guest to be revealed. There will be giveaways throughout the night plus a $1,000 balloon drop. Though why you’d want a balloon worth a grand is beyond us. The festivities run until 4am on this one, so there.
