GJ will get around fast again

Jet Around Cayman is an exciting round-Grand Cayman race for Jet Skiers finishing at Seven Mile Beach with plenty of beach-based entertainment and food.

It is on 13 June from Public Beach.

Last year, there was a record number of new riders in the rookie class with some as young as 17. Many will return this year, the 17th staging, and hope to do better.

The prizes last year were partly what attracted the riders, which included a cash pool exceeding $10,000, as well as iPhone 4S phones from LIME, airline tickets from Cayman Airways, gift certificates, Go Pro cameras and various prizes from Kirk Marine.

Gary “GJ” Whittaker racing for Nuttin 2 Lose dominated the waters around Grand Cayman last year to become the champion of Jet Around Cayman 2012
presented by LIME.

Whittaker nabbed first place in the Pro-Expert class with a time of 1 hour, 31 minutes.

The most popular class to compete in was the Expert-Open class with three prize groups. Whittaker also grabbed the coveted first place trophy.

Javier Media, also racing for Nuttin 2 Lose, came a close second with a time of 1 hour, 38 minutes and Scott Hydes racing for Wes-Tec, earned third place in 1 hour, 40 minutes.

The Amateur trophy went to Kaleb Ebanks racing for Wes-Tec with an impressive time of 1 hour, 36 minutes.

The fan favourite and most closely watched race, the rookies, introduced the next generation of Jet Ski champion as Benjamin Cupid racing for Nuttin 2 Lose captured first place in 1 hour, 43 minutes.
