Robbery at GT bus depot

Royal Cayman Islands Police are investigating the robbery of a bus driver in downtown George Town Wednesday night.

The driver told RCIPS officers he picked up two men from Coe Wood Beach in Bodden Town Wednesday night and took them into the bus depot on Edward Street downtown.

Police said the two men asked to be taken to the Rock Hole area, which is right down the street from the depot. The driver refused to do so.

At that point, police said one of the men put an unknown object against the driver’s neck and demanded cash.

Police said the men got away with a small sum from inside the vehicle. They were pursued by other individuals at the bus depot, but made good their escape in the Mary Street area of George Town.
An extensive search was conducted involving armed officers, the RCIPS K9 Unit, the Marine Unit, and uniformed officers. No arrests were made.

No one was hurt in the robbery.

  1. Picked up two men from Coe wood Beach in Bodden Town eh. Should not be too hard for the police to find out who they were. They got a free ride all the way to George Town and there is always between ten and twenty men out front on this beach all day and night, so I am sure someone knew who hopped the bus. Beside I am sure the Bus driver saw them too.
