The countdown to the start of Pirates Week 2013 has begun.
It all kicks off on Nov. 7 when George Town’s waterfront will be filled with the sweet sounds of the music of the Caribbean – the sound of pan.
It’s the CUC Pans in Deh Air, which this year will not be a competition, but rather a showcase of local steel bands of all ages – from primary schools to adult bands. It’s bound to be a night to remember, and organizers encourage parents, students, friends and all pan enthusiasts to turn out and support their favorite bands.
There will be ample seating for those who want to rest their weary feet, and even more road space for those who want to shake a little something.
The music starts at 7 p.m. on the waterfront on Harbor Drive, below Breezes Restaurant.
If you’re in any doubt as to the venue, simply follow the sweet sound of the steel pans.
Admission is free, and food and drinks will be available for purchase, with proceeds going to fund participating school bands.
