Police arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of having a gun following a foot chase in George Town Sunday.
The man remained in police custody Sunday, following his arrest shortly after midnight. According to police, around 12.13 a.m., armed officers from the Uniform Support Group were on patrol along Shedden Road when they approached a man who fled on foot.
“A foot chase ensued during which the suspect discarded an object,” Chief Inspector Richard Barrow said. “The male was subsequently apprehended. A search of the area was conducted and a loaded handgun containing several rounds of ammunition was recovered.”
The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
