Stabbing, machete attack over weekend

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service was investigating a violent attack in the vicinity of a George Town nightclub early Saturday.

According to police, the incident occurred at the Crewe Road nightclub around 2 a.m. Saturday when a 23-year-old man received “a number of stab wounds” to his abdomen and hand.

The victim was taken to hospital and remained there for treatment during the day Saturday.

In a separate, and apparently unrelated incident, police said two men were injured in a fight in West Bay late Friday. Both men involved in the incident on Powell Smith Drive were hurt and a machete was involved, according to police.

One of the men was arrested in the aftermath, but police did not state precisely why.
