Bikers ready to rev up for annual Toys 4 Tots weekend events

The time is almost here for the 8th annual Toys 4 Tots Motorcycle Toy Run, so get ready to hit the open road, enjoy the ride and contribute to a great holiday for kids in need.

Saturday is the Toy Drive at Cost-U-Less, and the Cayman Islands Motorcycle Riders Association will be there from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. LIME is running the “Giftmas” Tree: drop off a toy and pull a card off the tree. Top-ups to tablets and more will be in those cards; you just have to drop off a toy to earn your chance to win. Rumor has it that there will also be a Christmas elf around and maybe even Santa will stop by.

Saturday night party

That evening it’s time to get your motors running with a night out at the Club House at Treasure Island. Three local rock ‘n’ roll bands are coming together for the cause and a night of great music. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and Zipper Envy hits the stage from 7 to 8 p.m., followed by Live Round from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., and NLMB (No Longer My Burden) will perform from 10 to 11 p.m. There will be drink specials and prizes for all. Entry is $10 or a toy donation. Please ensure that the toy is new and unwrapped, suitable for ages 2 to 15 for either a girl or a boy, or both.

Sunday ride starts at Turtle Farm

On Sunday morning, registration for the ride begins at 10 a.m. at the Turtle Farm; donate a toy to join in. Lunch and raffle tickets will be on sale for $10. Saxon is providing T-shirts for the ride; LIME is donating a gift bag that you can wear on the ride, and Pasadora Family Dental Center is putting out the pre-ride sweets. It will be kickstands up at 11 a.m. sharp, so don’t be late. The ride will take its annual route through the Seven Mile area, George Town and South Sound heading east, with a water stop at East End before the final ride to North Side Public Beach for a barbecue.

If you can’t make it, drop off a new, unwrapped toy in one of the marked Toy Drive barrels at assigned drop-off spots. You can find the barrels at all LIME locations, Saxon, DMS, Cost-U-Less, Book Nook, Pasadora Family Dental Center, Sports Supply Office Supply and Cayman Custom Cycles.

All toys collected go to the Lions Club’s annual All Island Party where toys are distributed to children in need to ensure they have a special holiday.
