The regular five-a-side football season at the Kings Sports Centre is over and from the first week in January the play-offs begin.
Reigning champs Cayman Buzz Crusaders topped the league, winning six of seven games and finishing with 18 points. Buzz unexpectedly lost to PWC.
CML only lost twice and finished second on 15 points, same as third placed KPMG Titans but ahead on goal difference.
Dominion Devils were fourth with 10 points then came PWC and KPMG on nine each and newcomers No XQ’s seventh with only one point.
The league’s top scorers was KPMG Titans striker Fabio Smith with 12 goals.
Buzz captain Kris Pearson said: “At the start of the season we were winning comfortably by big margins but with wear and tear and teams becoming more organized towards the end, our wins were much closer.
“We’re looking forward to being champions again and with our $500 first prize we might celebrate at Coconut Joe’s this time.”
League organizer Andre Morgan said: “Overall, I am impressed with the season. We had one new team, CML, that stuck in it through the rough times. They became better players and I’m sure if they return next season they should have a impressive season.
“CML had a rougher than usual season but were able to hang in there to the end.
“KPMG Titans were a big surprise, I didn’t expect them to win against Cayman Buzz but they were able to. This shows that even the giants can be taken down.”
Morgan added that when the play-offs begin it will be much more open.
“Teams now have a chemistry, the only thing they have going against them is the fact that they might eat too much over the Christmas break and come back slower than expected.”
He thanked all the teams and companies that support the league.
“Big thank you to Beaches Sports Bar, they are our official bar for all sporting leagues at Kings Sports Centre.”
Early registration runs until Dec. 31 for next season, which gives teams an opportunity to save a little cost wise.
“All the best to all our current teams and let’s see some new faces come January, all are welcomed.”
