Dog Jog is for people too

Animal lovers are invited to sign up for the annual fun run and dog jog around Camana Bay this weekend.

Organized by Cayman Animal Rescue Enthusiasts, the 5K race seeks to find the fastest dog and owner team. There is also a separate category for two-legged runners.

The run, sponsored by BritCay, begins at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, and the course will be a double loop through the Town Center.

Registration fee of $20 per person will go toward CARE’s community spay and neuter program. Those who don’t have dogs can still enter and run unaccompanied.

Owners and dogs will get drinks and snacks at the finish line, and trophies will be awarded to the top three male and top three female runners without dogs.

A separate prize, sponsored by Cayman Animal Hospital, will be given to fastest man and woman with a dog.

The rest of the runners will still have a chance for a prize as there will be a random drawing with for gift certificates and other prizes donated by several businesses.

Early registration is Saturday, Feb. 15, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. underneath the Observation Tower at Camana Bay. Online registration is available at

You don’t have to be a dog owner to take part in Sunday’s 5K Dog Jog at Camana Bay.
