Vehicle crashes into busy restaurant

A vehicle crashed into Coconut Joe’s on Sunday night, taking out the restaurant’s sign and evacuating the patio after causing a three-car accident.

RCIPS Chief Inspector Raymond Christian said all three vehicles received extensive damage and one driver was taken to the Cayman Islands with injuries.

Chief Inspector Christian said one driver was charged with DUI.

He said a car driven by a 29-year-old female “at a high rate of speed” had caused the accident involving a 39-year-old male and a 76-year-old female.

“On reaching in the vicinity of the Marriott Hotel, the Tahoe collided with the right side of the F150, continued on and collided with the right side of the Kia; continued on and collided with Coconut Joe’s sign where it stopped.”
