Sealy's all-round talent keeps getting spotted

Ramon Sealy is a talented young man: He has a degree in Information Technology, and at 22 he is pursuing pro careers in two sports, cricket and football.

Such is his hectic schedule that Sealy returned from playing cricket in Malaysia for the Cayman national side on Saturday and leaves for Puerto Rico to keep goal for Bodden Town Football Club in the Club Champions’ Cup.

Then he returns next Wednesday before heading off to England to revert back to cricket as a wicket-keeper/batsman for Thornham, an amateur side in Middleton, near Manchester. Thornham will help him find a day job, probably in IT and Sealy will play cricket in between.

When the Marylebone Cricket Club toured here a year ago, traveling umpire John Holder was so impressed with Sealy’s batting that he organized this contract for the youngster, who said, “I’m looking forward to going. It’s a good opportunity.

“I’m hoping it will lead to other opportunities not just for me but for other Caymanians and show that we have a lot of talent here.”

In January, Sealy was selected for a tryout for professional football in Antigua but did not get through.
