Queen’s New Year Honours nominations sought

Governor Helen Kilpatrick is inviting members of the public to submit nominations for the Queen’s New Year Honours List for 2015.

According to a statement from the Governor’s Office on Tuesday, nominations must be supported by a persuasive account of the outstanding or innovative or self-sacrificing services and achievements of the nominee, whether paid or unpaid, in one field or several, and what has raised them above those of others performing similar services. It pointed out that long service is not, in itself, enough to warrant an award.

Nominations must be received by May 16. Final recommendations for inclusion in the Queen’s Honours list are considered in the U.K., while recommendations for the Certificate and Badge of Honour are considered locally.

Forms should be submitted to the Governor’s Office. The governor will review nominations before recommending candidates to the Royal, Ceremonial and Honours Unit in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London.

Nomination forms can be found at www.gov.uk or email the Governor’s Office at [email protected]
