Cayman Islands national women’s team won their final match of three in the Caribbean Football Union Caribbean Cup but it was not enough to go through to the second round.
Cayman beat host nation Turks and Caicos 3-0 on Tuesday but having lost to St. Kitts and Nevis 0-5 and drawn with Bermuda 2-2 in earlier matches, Cayman’s four points were not enough for them to advance.
Shenel Gall scored twice for Cayman and Shanelle Frederick got the other. These were the first matches Cayman’s senior national women had played since 2007.
Bermuda topped the Group 3 table with seven points and St. Kitts and Nevis joined them into the next round with six points.
Antigua and Barbuda won Group 1, winning all three games 1-0 and they go through with St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Martinique and Puerto Rico went through in Group 2. Group 4 and 5 games are yet to be played. Jamaica are in Group 5.
