Party under a full moon

When the full moon shines on Seven Mile Beach on June 13, you may find some truth in the belief that the lunar phase makes us all a little crazy – or you may just plain have fun.

This party will mark 10 years of Calico Jacks’s monthly Full Moon events, and with the weekend also hosting the Queen’s birthday, it seems only fitting to import British DJ Tim Cullen from the decks of London’s Ministry of Sound.

Cullen returns for his third visit to unleash his mix of deep/house/tech and progressive, including tracks from his label Grin Recordings.

The jet-setting DJ and producer has performed alongside top DJs, including Fedde Le Grand, Laidback Luke, Michael Woods, Chris Lake and Armin Van Buuren. He will be joined at the party by local DJs Snarfbeatz and Jonesian.

After performing from the walls of China to the clubs of Ibiza, Cullen says the Caribbean is still his favorite scene.

“I am lucky enough to have played around the world, but nowhere compares to the vibe on Grand Cayman,” Cullen says.

“The people, the weather, the beaches, the attitude are all absolutely perfect. I still put this destination as my number one, and I literally can’t wait to return in June.”

The idea to host the Full Moon parties came from the original such parties held in Koh Pha Ngan, Thailand. Those beach parties attract up to 30,000 partygoers from across the globe each month.

“I am extremely honored to have been involved in the organization of the Full Moon parties at Calico Jack’s since we started them 10 years ago,” says Epic Entertainment manager Sian Weinzweig.

“It makes me happy to have watched them grow exponentially over the years and to now see them as a solid go-to on the Cayman calendar.”

Calico Jack’s owner Handel Whitaker said he is proud that the Full Moon parties have featured quality entertainment and enhanced tourism in the Cayman Islands.

The Full Moon party is free. Music kicks off at 9 p.m. and the party runs until 1:30 a.m.

Cullen will get the party started.
