Five people, including a security guard, were injured in the early hours of Saturday as fighting broke out at a nightclub on the Seven Mile Beach strip.
Three people are believed to have been stabbed, one bystander was knocked unconscious with a metal chair, and a security guard was struck with a bottle in a series of incidents in and around the Dream Nightclub.
The mayhem broke out, according to police reports, when a 23-year-old man was ejected from the club at around 1:30 a.m. He attempted to force his way back inside, striking the bouncer with a bottle.
He is then said to have started randomly punching bystanders in the club’s smoking area. One man was hit with a chair and was knocked unconscious.
Simultaneously, police say, a brawl broke out in the car park to the rear of the club – where several men were assaulting a 27-year-old male. The victim suffered injuries, believed to be stab wounds, to his arm and stomach in the attack.
A 17-year-old man, who had been standing outside the club, was also stabbed in the lower back after he came to investigate the brawl. His friend came to his aid and was also stabbed in the buttocks, according to reports given to police.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding. A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of ganja.
Investigations into the various assaults are continuing and police urge anyone with information to call George Town police station on 949-4222 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 800(TIPS)8477.

When I started visiting Cayman in 1995, there were only a very few bars/night clubs -and very little crime. I have visited many times since then and noticed more and more nightclubs/bars opening for business. I was on the island again visiting last week and I brought my two children with me for the first time. For many years, they’ve heard me talk about how wonderful Cayman is, how clean it is, how nice the people are and how safe it is. While it is still the most beautiful island of any in the carribean to me, it surely is not the same place it used to be. It deeply saddens me to read articles like this one, to know this type of violence has made it’s way on the island now. No place is completely crime free. I know that. But I can’t help think that maybe the nightclubs bars have contributed to some of this violence. My grandmother who has passed now, used to say nothing good comes from drinking too much alcohol or staying out past midnight. I believe she was right. Reguardless, please know I will be sending up big prayers for peace on your beautiful island.
Things are getting bad in Cayman. This nightclub spot never seems to getting away from these kind of violent incidents even when it was under other name/ownership. I believe security needs to increase.
