Man accused of attacking ex-girlfriend with machete

Cayman Brac police officers arrested a 38-year-old man on Saturday morning on suspicion of wounding and aggravated burglary and damage to property.

Police reports state the suspect entered a residential house on the Bluff where his ex-girlfriend and her partner were residing and attacked the victim and her boyfriend with a knife and a machete.

Both victims were taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was transported to Grand Cayman and is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Another man, 42, was also arrested Saturday for making threats to witnesses in connection to the incident. He was released on police bail.

RCIPS chief inspector Frank Owens said any forms of domestic violence on the Sister Islands would be treated with zero tolerance.
