Marine officers were called to the Wharf Restaurant on Seven Mile Beach Thursday to monitor a 70-foot vessel that was stuck on the ironshore.
Acting chief inspector of the Royal Cayman Islands Marine Unit, Ian Yearwood, said rough weather overnight had caused the boat, Capt. Ishmael, to break from its mooring and drift to shore.
He said the boat’s owner was making plans to remove the vessel.
“We are working with the Department of Environment to make sure there’s no harm to the environment with the salvaging of the vessel,” Mr. Yearwood said.
At press time, he was unaware of the extent of damage to the boat.
