Hew bowled Argentinians over

Thompson Hew was the most outstanding player for the Cayman Islands in the recently concluded International Cricket Council Americas Under-19 T20 tournament in the Bahamas.

Cayman Islands placed third in the competition which was won by Suriname. The other country in the tournament was Argentina.

Thompson Hew, a left handed bowler, was virtually unplayable, picking up 11 wickets with a best of 4 for 19 against Argentina which earned him the Man of the Match award.

Also winning Man of the Match awards were 11-year-old Revaughn Johnson 3 wickets for no runs and 2 catches against Bahamas, and captain Edward Bodden with a 12 balls cameo scoring 31 runs not out also against Bahamas.

Coaches Andy Myles and Theo Cuffy were satisfied by the team’s efforts and expressed the feeling that continued exposure will greatly benefit them. All but three of 14 in the squad were competing regionally for the first time.

Team: Edward Bodden (capt.), Taurean Cox (vice-captain), Lucien Watson, Karim Murray, Alex Cameron, Hakim Murray, Dominic Walcott, Tareque Simpson, Revaughn Johnson, Ibrahim Allen, Rasheem Brown, Rory Forbes, Romell Turner, Thompson Hew, Rajpal Hemraj (manager).
