Coed softball continues to move forward with its latest season.
Week four of the 2014 Fall Adult Coed Softball League is taking place at the Field of Dreams. The competition, put on by the Cayman Islands Little League Association, has a trio of matches slated for Monday night. At 6:30 p.m. on field three, Phillip Tatum Jr. and the Intertrust Supernovas contend with Carlos Ebanks and the Cayman National All Stars before Donald Paddyfoot and Green Tech Solar challenge Marline Williams and Maples Sluggers at 8:15 p.m. On field four, at 6:30 p.m., David Nielsen and Rhino Rebar battle Robert Hendrich and KPMG A.
Matches, which started on Sunday with a triple-header, continue throughout the week and wrap up on Thursday with four contests on tap. At 6:30 p.m., Rohan Marshall and Bud Light face Mike Anderson and Rackam’s Crabbies on field three while Jason Giannitti and Al La Kebab Hitmen contend with Rhino Rebar on field four. At 8:15 p.m., Green Tech Solar tussle with John Marrs and Deloitte on field three while Maples Sluggers and KPMG A collide on field four.
The current campaign features teams handling 12 regular season games over eight weeks, plus double elimination playoffs. Alan Markoff is once again serving as league coordinator, with assistance from the association’s program and facility manager, Latoya McField. At this point, the competition boasts some 21 squads split over three divisions – which is on par with the usual participation numbers.
The last coed competition, the winter league, wrapped up in June. Ryan Ebanks and the Titans claimed an 11th championship by downing arch-rivals and previous two-time winners Rob Weins and KPMG A for the A League crown. Wil Pineau and the Coors Light Chuggers nabbed their fifth B League title by edging Jordan Stubblefield and YMCA We’ve Got The Runs. James Yonge and the UBS Swingers emerged the C League champions by defeating Rob Duty and the NCB Crushers.
