Three West Bay boaters are now the subject of an international marine search.
According to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, officers received a report on Sept. 15 from a family member of Alton Eddie Phillips that he left to go fishing outside Cayman waters, accompanied by James Michael Ebanks.
The pair departed Cayman on Sept. 12.
They had been scheduled to return home Sept. 14. They left in a yellow 28-foot canoe, which was powered by one 85-horsepower Yamaha outboard engine.
Following the initial report, police were notified that a third man, Ray Kennedy Smith, was on board the vessel.
The U.S. and Jamaican coast guards were notified, as well as authorities in Honduras and Cuba on Sept. 15. The Cayman Islands Port Authority was also informed and notified marine interests in Cayman waters.
Anyone who may have information about the three missing boaters is asked to contact RCIPS marine commander, Inspector Ian Yearwood, at 949-7710.
