Early Saturday morning violence in George Town resulted in a man being stabbed in the chest and a shots fired at a vehicle in the same general vicinity, Royal Cayman Islands Police reported.
Arrests were made in both cases, police Chief Inspector Raymond Christian said Sunday.
Mr. Christian said the two incidents did not appear to be related.
A 47-year-old man was stabbed and suffered a lung puncture, around 3:30 a.m. Saturday on Shedden Road in the vicinity of Jacques Scott retail store, police said.
The man underwent surgery and on Sunday remained in intensive care, where he was listed in critical but stable condition, police said. The 31-year-old suspect in the case was arrested and was set to appear in court Sunday.
About 20 minutes before the stabbing incident, gunshots were fired in the Shedden Road area. A Ford SUV was damaged by the gunfire, but no one was hurt.
Police arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the shooting.
