Some people in George Town may have had trouble waking up Wednesday morning after finding their alarm clock off, along with the rest of their electricity. The power went out for some 4,000 customers in central George Town for 21 minutes, according to a Caribbean Utilities Company spokesperson.
CUC’s Pat Bynoe-Clarke said a generator went down at the George Town power plant. It was “not a major outage,” she said, from 7:21 to 7:42 a.m., just before traffic picked up for the morning commute.
Traffic lights were also out of commission during the power cut, but police said there were no accidents related to the outage, and officers were not deployed to direct traffic.
