Cayman set for Challenge Trophy showdown with Jamaica

The Jamaica and Cayman Islands teams will clash in the Challenge Trophy final on Sunday.

The match is at the Smith Road Oval. Having achieved convincing victories against World Stars and Barbados, respectively, these teams are confident of victory in cricket’s most exciting format, 20 overs.

Jamaica crushed World Stars with outstanding performances from the Wright brothers Adrian and Conroy, Ainsley Hall and Corey Cato. Jamaica won by 90 runs.

In the second match, Cayman’s Omar Willis produced Sunday’s best performance, hitting a superb 72 not out after Kervin Ebanks, 26, and Omar Bryan, 23, laid the foundation.

Ryan Bovell’s 57 and Ricardo Roach’s 32 kept the score board ticking for Barbaos but excellent bowling from Cayman’s Gregory Smith and Kevin Bazil with two wickets each limited Barbados to 138 for 7. Cayman won by 25 runs and are confident they can hold on to the title they won last year.
