The National Roads Authority is urging drivers and other users of Godfrey Nixon Way to use caution during the ongoing widening of the road.
The authority is asking road users to be especially careful between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. when the work is under way, but also noted that some night work will take place.
The roadworks on Godfrey Nixon Way, from the Butterfield roundabout to the Eastern Avenue intersection, began earlier this week.
According to the Caribbean Utilities Company, CUC will carry out work in the area to enable drainage installation relating to the roadworks between April 10 and April 17.
The following week, starting April 19, new sidewalks and curbs will be installed.
Officials say work on the project should be completed by the end of this month.
The road widening will create a central turning lane, along with two travel lanes. The NRA is including a bicycle lane on the road’s northern edge, from Ashgo Street to Butterfield roundabout.
“We will endeavor to operate our construction and traffic control plans to minimize undue delays for drivers,” NRA Managing Director Paul Parchment said. “At the same time, we sincerely ask for continued patience as we carry out these much needed improvements to the road network.”
