The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman will host its fourth annual Blue Tip Invitational golf tournament next month.
The event will be on May 22 and brings together Cayman’s finest golfers to support some of the island’s most beloved charities and education programs.
This year, participating organizations will include Meals on Wheels, the Cayman Islands Crisis Center, the Save our Youth (SOY) foundation and The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman Scholarship Fund.
Last year, more than $65,000 was raised from the tournament partners, and the organizers anticipate this will be another record breaking year.
Special events will include the opportunity to win a brand new 2015 Mercedes-Benz convertible, in a fun hole-in-one challenge.
Tim Burke, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Cayman and the RE/MAX World Long Drive Champion, will offer tips and tricks for improving players’ games. The apparel brand Travis Mathew Clothing will also have an event area on display.
Premium raffle prizes for the event will include a chance to win trips to participating Ritz-Carlton golf destinations around the world, as well as merchandise from the Blue Tip golf shop.
“This is our first year working with the Blue Tip Invitational team and we are excited about the partnership between Mercedes-Benz and The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman,” said Chad Phillips of Mercedes-Benz.
“The Blue Tip is an amazing backdrop for this event and we anticipate the teams will give it their all. We expect this to be the beginning of a highly successful partnership.”
This year’s invitational will also include an additional day of activities for the public, open to families and friends with an interest in the sport. On Saturday morning, May 23, Burke will give a few pointers. This will be followed by a Family Scramble event at noon. Registration is US$300, including green fees, cart, awards and buffet at Andiamo restaurant, and is limited to the first 15 teams. After the buffet, an awards ceremony will be held at the Starfish Cay water park.
David Loomis, director of Golf for The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, said, “This has been a popular event with many of the same teams returning annually to participate. With such great support from local companies, we’d love to see it continue to grow.
“The additional day offers a great opportunity to get the public involved. We are hopeful to further develop the program offering additional activities throughout the year.”
