Two burned in vehicle fire

A woman was burned over 80 percent of her body following an early morning Monday one-car crash along West Bay Road, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service reported.

A man who was also in the vehicle suffered burns over 20 percent of his body, police said.

The car two were in, a black Audi, was travelling north-bound on West Bay Road when reached the curve along Public Beach and flipped over. Police said the fuel line in the vehicle ruptured and then ignited.

Both the male and female victim were lying on the ground near the burning car when police arrived. The woman was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital in critical condition while the man was listed in stable condition.
