The Premier League football season kicked off on Sunday and lethal striker Dwayne “Gaza” Wright got off to his typical fast start with a hat trick for Elite Sports Club.
Elite trounced Premier League newcomers Academy 5-0 with other goals coming from Wesley Robinson and Raul Rodriquez.
Cayman Athletic beat George Town 3-2. Athletic scorers were David Connolly (2) and Martin Webb. Tex Whitelocke scored George Town’s goals.
League champs Scholars International beat Roma United 1-0 thanks to a Rolly Bodden strike and Sunset beat Bodden Town 1-0.
This Sunday Cayman Athletic play Sunset at the North Side field at 5 p.m. before Bodden Town face Elite there at 7 p.m.
Academy are matched with Scholars in a 5 p.m. kickoff at Bodden Town and Roma face George Town at 7 p.m. at the TE McField Annex.
The women’s league season starts on Sunday. Scholars face Alliance at the Bodden Town field at 5 p.m. and Elite play champions Sunset at Annex at 5 p.m.
