Red Bay continues perfect season

It was another busy day of primary school football on Saturday in the CUC Primary Football League and Girls Primary Football League. 

The featured games in Group B at the TE McField Annex Field paired the Crusaders from Triple C against Red Bay Primary. 

In the Under-9 encounter, Red Bay’s Isaac Peart opened the scoring early in the first half. 

Triple C came close to equalizing but found Red Bay’s goalkeeper and defenders up for the challenge. 

The post also came to Red Bay’s rescue on a few occasions, but deep into the second half, Triple C’s Justin Parsons notched his team’s well-deserved equalizer much to the delight of the large contingent of Triple C parents and teachers. 

In the U-11 game, Red Bay continued their perfect start to the season with two goals each by Dequan Messam and Christian Ferguson and a penalty from Alejandro Holness as they defeated Triple C 5-1. 

Bradley Erskine added a sixth late in the game for Red Bay, but with the mercy rule enforced, the score recorded was 5-1. Triple C’s Amalee Mendoza-Williams scored his school’s only goal. 

In other Group B games at the Annex, North East Schools’ perfect start to the season also continued as they defeated South Sound Schools 5-1, with Derek Russell bagging a hat trick and Johnathon Ebanks and Antwan Jennings contributing a goal each. 

Jagger Alban scored for South Sound Schools in the first half with a well-taken effort. 

In the U-11 game, South Sound Schools and North East Schools shared the points after a 2-2 draw. Christopher Jackson opened the scoring for South Sound Schools early in the second half before Derek Russell grabbed his fourth goal of the day and North East’s equalizer. South Sound’s Ryan Bennett gave his school the lead only to see Johnathon Ebanks score his second goal of the day and the equalizer. Both schools battled for a winner but it was not to be. 

In other Group B games, Bodden Town Primary lost to Cayman Prep 4-0 (U-9 – mercy rule); Bodden Town Primary lost to Cayman Prep 4-0 (U-11 – mercy rule); and Prospect Primary beat Cayman Brac 3-0 (U-11). 

In Group A games, Sir John A. Cumber Primary defeated George Town Primary 4-0 (U-9); Sir John A. Cumber Primary beat George Town Primary 4-0 (U-11); Cayman International School tied St. Ignatius Prep (U-9); and Cayman International School overcame St. Ignatius Prep 4-1 (U-11). 

In the Group B CUC Girls Primary Football League game at the Annex, North East Schools defeated Sir John A. Cumber Primary B 1-0 thanks to a strike from Tegan Williams. 

In the other GPFL Group B game, Cayman Prep edged out Bodden Town Primary 2-1. 

In Group A, Sir John A. Cumber Primary defeated George Town Primary 4-0 (mercy rule) and Cayman International School beat St. Ignatius Prep 5-1 (mercy rule).

The fourth round of the 2015/16 CUC PFL and GPFL regular seasons continue on Saturday with games at the TE McField Annex Field, Old Man Bay Field, Bodden Town Primary, Prospect Primary and Cayman Prep.
