Two die in Brac crash

A minivan apparently ran off the road on the Brac at about 5:15 p.m. Sunday, killing two men and injuring a third, according to police. In a statement, police say they did not realize a third man was in the car until some time later.

According to a police statement Sunday night, the driver of a Honda Odyssey lost control while travelling east on South Side Road East and the minivan overturned. A 51-year-old Brac man and a U.S. visitor, 54, died in the crash. Emergency services took the third man to Faith Hospital.

Police apparently did not see the man from the U.S. in the vehicle while investigating the crash. An initial statement at about 6:45 p.m. Sunday from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service said two men were in the vehicle.  A later release from police, sent at about 11 p.m., states, “As a result of a further examination of the scene police recovered a third male travelling in the vehicle.”

Police say they informed the local U.S. consulate. Crash investigators from Grand Cayman, as of Sunday night, were making arrangements to fly to the Brac to investigate.

  1. This is one of the saddest stories I have ever heard. A third man in the car and no one saw him. This is not good.
6.45pm is evening time; what kind of light were they using? phone light, because it could never be regulation flashlights.
And then the other question is; what is going on anyway, Are we in Cayman straying too far, so far that some spiritual factor is hovering over and calling numbers?
