'Festival of Seas' moves to The Ritz-Carlton

What began as the Festival of Trees, the annual fundraiser for the Central Caribbean Marine Institute, has now changed to the Festival of Seas. And this year, for the first time, it will be held in the ballroom of The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.

The 10th annual celebration on Nov. 28 has an aquatic theme. The “bubbly” reception will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a three-course dinner.

Live and silent auctions are scheduled. Local contributions include rare and fine bottles by Vino Veritas; a kids package from Book Nook; a Nutrie health and nutrition package; Apple laptop and accessories; underwater photography canvas by Ellen Cuylaerts; a month of lunches from Saucha Conscious Living; dinner reservations at some of Cayman’s top restaurants; and trips, such as a weekend stay at Southern Cross Club in Little Cayman.

One of the most exciting items on the list is a week’s stay at Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island and an exclusive 2016 Rio Olympics package, including the opening ceremonies.

Bidding by proxy will be available.

After the bidding, it will be time to dance with DJ Jacko. Guests are encouraged to include the blue theme in their formal dress or to dress as mer-people to really take the theme to the next level.

Tickets start at $250 and tables at $2,500. If you or your company is interested in contributing to the auction, or for more information and reservations, contact Brittainy Slade at 815-9173 or [email protected]
