As part of the Cayman Airways U-14 Invitational Youth Cup, Academy Sports Club is hosting an International Youth Football Camp on Sunday, June 26, at the Camana Bay Sports Complex.
Participants will have the opportunity to train with the international football coaches from the visiting teams from the tournament.
The camp promises to be fun, but also hard work, organizers said in a press release. The coaches will concentrate on improving techniques of basic skills such as passing, dribbling and shooting and will emphasize the importance of proper footwork and ball control. The camp also aims to build the self-confidence of players individually and to promote the importance of teamwork.
Virgil Seymour, head coach at Academy Sports Club, said, “We are delighted to be able to offer this camp as a bonus to the Cayman Airways U-14 Invitational Youth Cup. It is not often that players have the chance to train with coaches from international teams and to benefit from their vast experience, so we encourage as many boys and girls as possible to come out and take advantage of this opportunity.
“Participants in the camp will be put through their paces, that’s for sure, but it will be also be fun and provide an environment where all the players can expect to improve their skills, technique and knowledge of the game,” he said.
The camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is aimed at 8- to 16-year-olds. The cost is $50 each, and the first 100 to register will receive a free camp T-shirt. To register online visit caymanyouthcup.ky or sign up at the camp registration desk at tournament matches June 20-25.
