Turtle Farm proves an educational draw

The Cayman Islands Turtle Farm reports that from Jan. 1 to June 30 2016, over 2,130 school students and teachers visited the West Bay park for education and recreation. Approximately 1,411 of those partook in the Turtle Farm’s annual end of term special promotion offered to schools during the month of June 2016. From July 2015 to June 2016, more than 2,765 schoolchildren and their teachers and chaperones visited the park.

In addition, during the 2015–2016 school term, three high school student interns worked with Marine & Terrestrial departments for four days a week under CTF’s annual Work Experience partnership program with the Cayman Island Further Education Centre.

  1. I support the turtle farm, however I would like to see more Caymanians working there. Remember that is where our heritage began; turtling.
Also more can be done to encourage the locals. On week ends offer a raffle for visiting locals. Solicit weekend packages for Cayman and Cayman Brac, or airline tickets. Yes we have to do more to encourage the locals to visit there. They have a ticket, they got a chance.
