Fatal accident near West Bay roundabout

A female pedestrian was killed in an accident on the Esterley Tibbetts Highway, just south of the roundabout by the Cayman Islands Yacht Club Thursday morning.

Police, fire and ambulance attended the scene of the fatal accident. Southbound traffic was blocked from exiting the roundabout and motorists were being redirected through the Kimpton Seafire hotel carpark back onto the Esterley Tibbetts.

Police asked motorists to avoid the area if possible.

  1. I had to cross the Butterfield Roundabout as a pedestrian recently, and one is definitely putting your life in the motorists hands, as there are no Pedestrian Crossings. I would hazard a guess that this is true for all roundabouts in the Cayman Islands.
