Cayman junior golfer places well in Florida tournament

One of Cayman’s top junior golfers, Aaron Jarvis, finished T3 (tied for third) in the AJGA Preview at Seagate Golf Club, Delray Beach, Florida on April 14-15.

The American Junior Golf Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf, and has an annual junior membership (boys and girls, ages 12-19) of more than 6,900 members from 50 states and 60 foreign countries.

Aaron played in the 15 and under division, with a field of 50 junior golfers, and shot rounds of 78 and 78 on a 6,855 yard course over two days. With calm winds in Round 1, Aaron played a solid round and was tied for 10th on the leaderboard.

Day 2 brought much harder conditions with 30-mile-an-hour winds and rain showers, and demonstrating determination, patience and discipline, Aaron held on strongly with another 78, finishing his round with an eagle and a birdie in the last four holes, to move up the leaderboard to place 3rd overall, behind Florida golfer Jackson Kustin and Japanese golfer Shoichiron Nakamoto.

Aaron is ranked 865 on the Rolex AGJA Rankings after placing in this tournament.
