CUC chief executive speaks to ICCI students

CUC chief executive Richard Hew presents the utility provider’s business goals to ICCI students.

Richard Hew, president and chief executive officer of Caribbean Utilities Company, was featured as a guest speaker at the International College of the Cayman Islands on Oct. 25 as part of the college’s mission to provide students with opportunities to engage with industry leaders in the Cayman Islands.

Mr. Hew, a registered professional engineer in the state of Florida, shared CUC’s five strategic objectives revolving around safety, human capital, reliability and service, as well as new business and technology, with a diverse audience of new and returning students pursuing associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

The CUC chief executive further outlined some of the inner workings of the utilities company including plans to expand the use of renewable energy and to add an eighth sub-station on West Bay Road.

Mr. Hew graduated with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Florida in 1988, and in 1997 he obtained his master of business administration at Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, Canada.
