Equestrians and volunteers came out to the Equestrian Center to compete in the third and final leg of the Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation’s National Jumping Series on Sunday.

Milly Serpell, who was certified earlier this year as an FEI Level 1 Show Jumping Judge, took on the judging duties.

Highlights of the day included double wins by Megan Swartz riding Fly with Me in both the 60cm and 70cm classes. The pair clocked the fastest jump off time of the day in the 60cm class, winning by almost 5 full seconds, a margin normally unheard of in show jumping.

Gina Lomas also earned two blue ribbons, one in the 70cm Horse class and the other in the 90cm Open class, riding JR Booming Gun and Sunday’s Edition, respectively.

Now that the series is complete, champions in each category will be named shortly.

The Equestrian Federation holds four show jumping events and three dressage shows each year that are open to all equestrians in the Cayman Islands.

The next equestrian competition on the calendar is the Cayman leg of the Caribbean Equestrian Association’s 2018 Regional Jumping Challenge, which will be held at the Equestrian Center on Sunday, Nov. 25, starting at 8 a.m. Spectators are welcome and admission is free.
