The MS Foundation of the Cayman Islands will host its fourth annual Pretty on the Outside fundraiser this Saturday. The cocktail gala-style event will be held at Pedro St. James, from 6pm onwards.
The historic site is the perfect backdrop for the evening, where attendees will arrive to a welcome cocktail and can sample canapés throughout the night, created by chef Thomas Tennant. The fashion theme is revealed in the silent auction, which features designer handbags by Louise & Eleanor and bow ties by Barry Beaux, as well as an array of prizes donated by local supporters. The handbags and bow ties will be showcased by models walking around during the event.
A live DJ is booked to provide the music and none other than Jason Howard is flying in to host the proceedings.
All money raised from the event, silent auction and 50/50 raffle will benefit the MS Foundation and support its mission to help local patients gain access to vital medical care and wellness support.
The foundation was created by Alyssa Christian in 2016, after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) herself the previous year. She became aware of the large community of MS patients in Cayman and knew something needed to be done.
“Support is crucial, both financially and emotionally, to not only MS patients but to their families as well,” Christian said. “The MS Foundation is committed to not only providing the support needed to patients, but [also to] spread awareness about the disease.
“Currently, there is no cure for MS. It is a lifelong disease. We hope one day for a cure, but until then, we will remain MS strong and continue to support our local community of patients and their families.”
About Louise & Eleanor
Louise & Eleanor is a testament to friendship and women working together. The designers curate Parisian, vintage, one-of-a-kind fabrics and repurpose them to create unique, limited-edition handbags.
They also have carryall totes and racquet bags to take on and off the court.
About Barry Beaux
Established in 2009, Barry Beaux was started by designer, Frances Ford Barry. She began the brand while studying fashion merchandising at Georgia Southern University. This ‘Carolina Girl’ designs, cuts and sews all of her bow ties, ties, cummerbund sets, pocket squares, suspenders and more.
The name Barry Beaux comes from Barry, her last name, and Beaux, meaning ‘handsome’ in French, as well as being a play on the word ‘bow’. The shrimp logo comes from the shrimp boat fleet in Shem Creek, a local creek in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, which is her main source of inspiration.
