Freddy Manuel Diaz-Christian has denied allegations of possession of child pornography.
Appearing before the Grand Court for the first time on Friday, 1 Oct., Diaz entered not guilty pleas to one charge of possession of child pornography and one charge of accessing child pornography.
Diaz, 33, of West Bay, was arrested after the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service was tipped off by US authorities that a Cayman-based IP address was used to access and download child pornography. That IP address was later connected to Diaz.
The charges allege that Diaz downloaded two Category A images, which mean they depict extreme nudity, exposed genitalia or sexual penetration. The remaining three images were classed as Category C, which mean they depict children in provocative positions with little-to-no nudity.
Diaz was released on strict bail conditions which include posting a cash surety of $2,000, and being banned from accessing the internet as well as owning or accessing any electronic device which can access the internet. He is also restricted from contacting any person, outside of his family, under the age of 16.
