Police have confirmed they are investigating a scam involving the issuing of fake Travel Cayman certificates.
In a statement issued Wednesday evening, in response to Cayman Compass queries, police said they were aware of a number of travellers who appear to have been victims of the scam over the last few weeks.
Neither the number of impacted travellers nor their nationalities has been released.
However, police said officers, along with other authorities, are working with the jurisdiction where the scam appears to have originated.
The travellers affected by the scam were transiting Cayman, not entering the country, police told the Compass.
They were allowed to carry on to their destination.
All other documentation they presented, including PCR tests and passports, were found to be authentic, police added.
Investigations are ongoing.

Triple vaccinated and nearly had to cough up a spleen to fulfill the idiotic Travel Cayman requirements. Nose jabbed 5 times in 8 days. Cost me over $180 for a nothing burger. Just end this foolishness. It serves no purpose. If you are vaccinated you should be free to travel. If not, then take precautions.
Why no follow up to this story? Which countries were involved? Why the secrecy?
