Southwest Airlines flight 1215 from Fort Lauderdale touched down early at Owen Roberts International Airport on Thursday, marking the airline’s return to the Islands, with a customary water cannon welcome.
A delegation from the Ministry of Tourism met the disembarking passengers from Florida.
Southwest joins fellow US carriers, Delta, American and United in resuming flights to Cayman following the relaxing of restrictions on travel.
Southwest will operate the Ft. Lauderdale route daily and the carrier will also have weekly flights from Baltimore to Grand Cayman starting on 12 March.
