Police have confirmed that a 41-year-old man died in Thursday morning’s two-vehicle collision on West Bay Road.
The name of the deceased man has not been released.
Police said the man was pronounced dead on arrival at the Cayman Islands Hospital.
A 24-year-old man of West Bay was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following the crash which occurred shortly after 4am. He has been bailed as investigations continue.

Police said shortly after 4am officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on West Bay Road, in the vicinity of Safehaven Drive, involving a Hyundai Santa Fe and a Honda Civic.
Only the drivers were in the vehicles at the time of collision.
Police said the driver of the Honda was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire officers.
He was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital via ambulance where he was pronounced dead.
A second man, the driver of the Hyundai, received non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital, where he was treated and subsequently released.
The West Bay man was then arrested.
A portion of West Bay Road was closed temporarily following the accident, but it has since been fully reopened.

The incident happened shortly after 4am Thursday morning on West Bay Road in front of the Ritz residences in the vicinity of Safehaven Drive.
Further details on the incident have not been released, but police confirmed to the Compass that one man has been killed in the crash and another was taken into custody.
Both lanes of West Bay Road were still closed as of 7:45am, and traffic was being diverted onto the Esterley Tibbetts Highway. Police said motorists should expect delays.
Traffic is currently backed up to the Yacht Club roundabout.
