Updated: A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 32-year-old man was shot dead in Gun Square Road in Bodden Town late this afternoon, 1 July.
Police said the shooting occurred around 5:30pm.
“On arriving at the scene, emergency services attended to a man who appeared to have gunshot injuries. The man was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he was pronounced deceased by the attending doctor,” the RCIPS said in a statement.
The victim is a resident of Bodden Town, police confirmed.
The 28-year-old suspect, who is also a resident of Bodden Town, is being held in custody at the Cayman Islands Detention Centre, according to the police statement.
Police advised that roadways that were blocked off in order to process the crime scene have now been reopened.
RCIPS detectives are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or has any information to report it to the police. Information can be provided by calling the Bodden Town Police Station at 947-2220, or leaving an anonymous tip via the RCIPS confidential tip line at 949-7777 or via its website.
