Aspiring poets looking for a way to share their work, along with anyone who loves to hear the rhythms of the spoken word, should consider attending the Poetry Open Mic Night event at the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands on Wednesday, 10 Aug. at 6pm.
Inspired by the ‘All the Coals We Left in the Fire’ exhibit by Nasaria Suckoo-Chollette, the evening will feature readings by the artist herself, as well as Camille Angel, Katelyn Bush, Latoya Francis, Patrick ‘Jus P’ Lopez and Lauren Williams.
This is not just a night for the professionals, however. Attendees are welcome to share their own poetry, spoken word pieces or acoustic stylings with the audience as well. It’s a great opportunity to take advantage of an open forum that is also a safe space, full of support and encouragement.
Light refreshments will be provided and the event is free. It will be held in the Lower Exhibition Hall.
