The Heath Services Authority has confirmed three COVID-related deaths: one on Sunday and two last Thursday.
This brings the total of COVID-related deaths in the Cayman Islands to 32.
The individual confirmed on Sunday had severe comorbidities and had received two doses of the vaccination (no booster).
Both individuals confirmed on Thursday had several comorbidities. One individual was fully vaccinated (two doses) while the other was unvaccinated.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness sent its condolences to the families of the affected, press releases announcing the deaths reported.
The press releases reminded that COVID-19 reports to the public are limited to news concerning hospitalisations and deaths.
“Any notable increases in hospitalisations, as well as any new deaths, will be announced to the public immediately,” the release stated.
Interim Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Autilia Newton, also reminded the general public of the importance of getting boosted, especially for “those in our community who are vulnerable and immunocompromised”.
“The COVID-19 booster improves protection against severe infection for all age groups, and research has shown it helps keep people out of the hospital,” Newton said.
