Emily Kelly named as assistant director of sports
The Ministry of Sports has announced the appointment of Caymanian Emily Kelly as assistant director of sports programmes.
According to a press release, Kelly will oversee the “department’s 20 coaches and sports coordinators to support them in delivering community programmes, camps, workshops, recreational leagues and events, along with school coaching sessions”.
Cayman artistic swimmers claim medals at CCCAN games
The Cayman Islands synchronised swimmers earned a pair of medals during the 2022 Central American and Caribbean Amateur Swimming Confederation Championships in Panama.
The artistic 12-and-under team won silver, while Cayman’s junior duo of Madison van Duynhoven and Allie Capasso won bronze.
5K Walk/Run set for weekend
The West Bay Seven Day Adventist Church annual 5K Walk/Run is scheduled for Saturday, 30 Oct.
The event will begin at 6am, starting at the Cayman Turtle Centre and ending at the West Bay public boat ramp.
Registration open for tennis club championships
Registration for the Cayman Islands Tennis Club Championships is now open. The event, which invites members only to participate in the event, will be held 4-6 Nov.
Deadline for registration is Wednesday, 2 Nov.

Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva set for weekend clash
Social media influencer Jake Paul is set to take on MMA legend Anderson Silva this Saturday 29 Oct., in the Gila River Arena in Phoenix.
The boxing event starts with undercard matches at 9pm, with the main event between Paul and Silva expected to take place at around 11:30pm.
