A man caught smuggling ganja and cellphones into Northward Prison entered guilty pleas before the Summary Court on Tuesday, 31 Jan.
Listening through a Filipino interpreter, Joshua Malazarte Garra entered guilty pleas to three counts of smuggling contraband as the charges were presented to him.
The charges stem from an incident on 18 June 2022 during which a prison officer recovered 84.92 grams of ganja and two cellphones from Garra. The details of how the contraband was discovered were not revealed during the hearing.
Garra was released on bail and is due to be sentenced on 15 March.
