The Cayman Islands senior men’s cricket team has secured a place in the World Cup Qualifier finals after picking up two wins and a loss during the Americas Sub-Regional World Cup Qualifier in Argentina.

Despite having one game left in the Americas Sub-Regional, Cayman has racked up enough wins to advance one step closer to competing in the Cricket World Cup in 2024.

Cayman played Bermuda in the opener, a game they lost by 96 runs after the Bermudians scored 173 for 3 in 20 overs.

Speaking with the Compass prior to that game, head coach Steve Gordon said he knew Bermuda would give his team the hardest challenge but noted the remaining games were must-wins for Cayman.

The Cayman squad would deliver on their coach’s hopes, claiming victory in their next two matches.
