Christmas trees that three months ago were adorning people’s living rooms have been shredded and transformed into mulch, ready to be picked up by gardeners and landscapers across Grand Cayman.
The Department of Environmental Health is inviting residents to collect free mulch at the George Town Cricket Field from 8am on Saturday, 1 April.
“Residents are invited to come out early and to bring their shovels and bags for the removal of the mulch,” the DEH stated, adding that the material will be supplied on a first-come, first-served basis.
The mulch is derived from the Christmas trees that were deposited at collection sites throughout the island earlier this year. Trees were subsequently removed by the DEH and shredded.
