An alleged rental scam case is expected to grow against Judith Douglas.
Douglas’ defence team has asked the courts for a three-week adjournment, stressing she is “keen to progress matters, and is willing to enter her plea”.
“However, the issue is the prosecution has indicated that there are likely to be more charges of a similar nature filed,” said Douglas’ attorney Jonathon Hughes during a brief appearance on 4 April.
Douglas, 57, of Bodden Town, is currently before the courts for five counts of obtaining property by deception, in connection with the alleged rental scam.
She was taken into custody after surrendering herself to police on Sunday 5 March, following multiple complaints from people who said she collected cash deposits from them in relation to a premises on Diaz Lane in George Town.
The case was adjourned to 25 April, no bail application was made, and Douglas remains in custody at HMP Fairbanks.
