A fortunate few eagle-eyed commuters near the Owen Roberts International Airport were able to catch a glimpse of a Royal Air Force Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft on Wednesday.

The giant plane is the largest of the Royal Air Force’s fleet of military aircraft and is used in a wide range of operations, from combat to peacekeeping and humanitarian missions.

When Cayman Compass staff arrived at the private arrivals terminal, a handful of military personnel were seen departing, after declining to speak to the media.

A spokesperson for the Governor’s Office said, “The trip is part of crew training across the region to ensure they are competent with the transatlantic crossing and navigation in the Caribbean region should they be needed later in the year.”

According to flightradar24, the plane landed in Cayman after touching down in St Kitts and Nevis the day before.
